This is a picture of moss near the base of a tree. Moss is a type of plant known as a bryophyte, or a non-vascular land plant. Bryophytes are easily distinguishable due to the fact that they are very tightly packed together and are most commonly found on the trunks of trees and on rocks. Byrophytes contain no true vascular tissue, and consist mostly of mosses, hornworts, and liverworts.
